This is an excellent scenic drive and one you should take on your trip here. Fuel up before you go as you won't find any on the way. The road is usually pretty deserted too so you can have a long relaxing drive. Take a lunch and make a day out of it.

Maruia Springs
You’ll find this spring in Lewis Pass. These hot pools come in various sizes, shapes, and temperatures. They are built from smooth rocks from the Maruia River. With the snow covered mountains surrounding you you'll feel at peace here. This is one relaxing spot to try on your trip. The thermal water is said to have healing properties because of the mineral content. It is said to help soften the skin and detoxify the body.

For those that want more adventure you can try the Thrillseekers Adventure Company which provides fun activities in Hamner Springs. You can explore white rapids and gorges on their jet boat and see stunning scenery or go for a thrilling bungee jump. You’ll leap off the historic Ferry Bridge which is the gateway to Hamner Springs and have a 35 foot free fall to the canyon.
